The thrilling, turbulent, and unpredictable January 2022 transfer window has recently reached its end.
Although the amounts involved and the number of deals are considerably lower than the summer transfer window, this period proves to be crucial for several clubs to fill some gaps, boost their squads and even sign young talented players.
Check out the top 5 of the most expensive transfers for this last winter transfer window.
1. Dušan Vlahović (€70 million)
The Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic went straight to the top of the list by joining La Vecchia Signora. The current top scorer in Serie A – alongside Ciro Immobile – with an impressive record of 20 goals in 24 matches, left Fiorentina at 22 in a 70 million euros deal.
2. Ferrán Torres (€55 million)
We are all used to seeing Cityzens spend astronomical sums of money, right? However, it is not common to see their athletes being released for identical amounts. The multifaceted Spanish forward Ferran Torres moved from Manchester City to FC Barcelona and became the club’s second-biggest-ever sale, after Leroy Sane (€60 million).
3. Luis Díaz (€45 million)
The Colombian creative winger Luis Diaz arrives in the Premier League after three consistent seasons at FC Porto. €45 million was the amount Liverpool immediately disbursed to get its services, and the deal can still reach a total of €60 million.
4. Bruno Guimarães (€42,1 million)
Bruno Guimarães is undoubtedly one of the outstanding midfielders in Ligue 1 and performed an unexpected move from Olympique Lyon to Newcastle FC in this transfer window. The Brazillian will be a powerful weapon for the new billionaire English club to avoid relegation this season.
5. Lucas Digne (€30 million)
Lucas Digne’s transfer is anything but surprising. The French left-back invariably made it clear that he no longer wanted to play for Everton, which facilitated the deal with Aston Villa. The former FC Barcelona player will meet his former teammate Philipe Coutinho, who also recently joined the Villans on loan.
