Analysis Operations Manager

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for the new position of Analysis Operations Manager, reporting to the Head of First Team Analysis.

The role will focus on the strategic level responsibilities of analysis provision and manage the resources needed to deliver an elite level service whilst aligning the analysis services across all teams that underpin the respective coaching and development philosophies. The overall aim of the role is to facilitate the transfer of subjective and objective information with a view to developing players and winning football matches.

Applicants should have extensive experience in both the delivery and management aspects of Performance Analysis within a First Team/Senior professional sports organisation together with a high level of competency in industry specific software.

The role will require possession of a sports related University degree in Performance Analysis Sports Coaching/Science or equivalent as a minimum. Potential candidates should have a high level of professionalism, a drive to continuously develop themselves together with those around them and thrive within a hard-working, progressive and ambitious environment.

Successful candidates will demonstrate flexibility, confidence and the highest levels of discretion at all times, will have the ability to communicate concisely, assertively and effectively with various professional disciplines and at all levels of an organisation with the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

Due to this post being in regulated activity, the potential employee will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check at the appropriate level. It is a criminal offence for a barred person to attempt to engage with vulnerable groups.

Post Title: Analysis Operations Manager

Rate of Pay and Benefits: Salary offered will be commensurate with relevant experience and the level of responsibility undertaken in the post. Benefits include membership of the Group Pension Scheme (subject to certain eligibility criteria), up to 25 days paid annual leave and an Occupational Sickness Scheme.

Accountable to: Head of First Team Analysis

Purpose

Co-ordinate and align the analysis operations of the First Team, Academy teams and Women’s team.

Focus on the strategic level responsibilities of analysis provision and manage the resources needed to deliver an elite level service.

Provide an aligned analysis service across all teams that underpin the respective coaching and development philosophies.

Deliver a service to all teams that facilitates subjective and objective information with a view to developing players and winning football matches.

Key Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the post are:

Assist the Head of First Team Analysis in the management of staff and services delivered to the First Team Manager, Coaches and Players.

Oversee and aid the provision of analysis services within the Academy and Women’s team, partially managing the analysts themselves and working closely with all key stakeholders.

Facilitate player and team development through the use of analytical resource, during pre, live and post-match intervention.

Research, monitor and appraise all possible external provision with a view to improving analyst and coach understanding and delivery of information.

Integrate the use of applicable data that will aid the understanding of player and team performance, and therefore development.

Manage staff development and all aspects of analysis-associated club strategy (structure, budgets, providers, legal, infrastructure and IT).

Provide cutting-edge, innovative solutions that will optimise the information handling and delivery to analysts, coaches and players.

Analyst recruitment at Academy and Women’s team levels (permanent and casual). Also assistance in analyst recruitment at First Team level.

Qualifications:

University level education in Performance Analysis, Sports Coaching or Sports Science  or equivalent as a minimum.

UEFA level coaching qualifications & Industry specific qualifications desirable

Technical Skills:

Highly proficient in the use of Mac hardware and software with in-depth skill using various analysis software/systems such as  ‘Sportscode’ and  typical filming/capturing setups

The ability to collect, manage and present deep sets of applicable performance data is desirable together with  experience in using various analysis software/systems such as Telestration software (ideally ‘Piero’), Data/video platforms (e.g. ‘Matchtracker’, ‘WyScout’, ‘InStat’) and handling of current AV/network infrastructures necessary in the use of video/data

Knowledge/Experience:

Demonstrable experience in both the delivery and management aspects of Performance Analysis within a First Team/Senior professional sports organisation (essential).

Passionate and driven working on the management and strategic side of Performance Analysis provision.

Motivated by working as a key (senior) part of a well-established, progressive and ambitious department.

Diligent, well-rounded and innovative in ALL areas of analysis

A broad understanding of football management and coaching and how analysis can maximise those services, is essential

Experience with Elite level team and player learning and development essential -Technically, physically and cognitively

A well-rounded approach to analysis that caters for the future development in: video, data, hardware, software and multi-purpose systems essential.

An understanding of how analysis can impact Sports Science, Psychological and Inter-personal development is desirable together with development differences and needs of elite level athletes from U9 to First team (Male and Female)

Hours of Work

There are no set working hours and the employee will be required to work such times and such periods as are necessary for the proper fulfilment of their duties according to the operational requirements of the department or demands of the business. This may include evening and weekend work and occasional travel.
